Join Monty Lit Fest for a weekend of culture and conversation in Montgomery over the weekend of 10th-12th June.  Bringing together a stellar line-up of literary talent for book-lovers to enjoy which celebrates writing from Wales, the Borders and beyond,

The programme offers something for everyone – whether you’re a fiction lover or enjoy a wide range of non-fiction; if poetry is your bag, you’re an aspiring writer or you just want to enjoy a pint at our Late Lounge or perhaps exercise your brain cells at our Big Saturday Night Quiz.

Here are just some of the programme highlights:

  • Visit the scene of the crime with top crime writers, Sophie Hannah, Janice Hallett and Myfanwy Alexander.
  • Get close to the land with Bella Bathurst, author of Field Work and Patrick Laurie, author of Native.
  • Enjoy a glass of wine with poet and painter, Frieda Hughes, who will read from, and discuss, her poetry.
  • Find out which 12 poems can tell the history of Wales - and which nine foods represent the history of Welsh food.
  • Hear from Hope Adams and Alix Nathan as they share the joys and challenges of writing fiction based on history told from a female perspective.
  • Meet best-selling non-fiction authors, Horatio Clare and Montgomeryshire’s own Mike Parker.
  • Take to the field with Marcus Berkmann and Roger Morgan-Grenville for our literary cricket tea.

Budding authors can take advantage of two hands-on lunchtime sessions, one giving advice on how to write for radio, and the other aimed at helping budding food critics master the craft of writing about food.

The Festival’s main venue will be Montgomery Town Hall, with other local venues in the town playing a supporting role.  Immerse yourself in the whole three-day literary festival and buy a Full Weekend Pass for £100 which covers up to 18 sessions.
