On the 9th June 2022, the Artes Mundi 10 shortlist was announced for the organisation's prestigious, International Contemporary Art Prize.
Being the UK's number one leading biennial arts exhibition and contemporary arts prize, Artes Mundi are holding their 10th anniversary event of which they will be giving one of 10 international artists, the chance to win the prestigious £40,000 Artes Mundi prize. The shortlisted artist's work will be featured in the AM10 exhibition that will be taking place from October 2023 to March 2024. The winner will be announced during the exhibition run at one of the many venue's across Wales that will be partnering with Artes Mundi for this event. The venue partners are: MOSTYN, Llandudno; Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown; Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea; National Museum Cardiff; and Chapter, Cardiff.
Artes Mundi have once again brought together some of the most relevant and prevalent names that are currently working within the arts. They continue to highlight work that touches on heavy and pressing matters that greatly effect the world that we live in. This years shortlist includes: Rushdi Anwar (Lives and working in Thailand and Australia); Carolina Caycedo (Lives and working in USA); Alia Farid (Lives and works between Kuwait City and Puerto Rico); Naomi Rincón Gallardo (Lives and working in Mexico); Taloi Havani (Lives and works in Australia); Nguyễn Trinh Thi (Lives and work in Vietnam) and Mounira Al Solh (Lives and works in The Netherlands). Previous editions of this event have given many artists an international platform to display their creations, many of which are now established figures in the arts.
