Culture Colony Vision's picture

Arts Council Wales have awarded Culture Colony a grant to produce a pilot series of live broadcasts on the AM platform, serving the creative sector in Wales.

The idea is to produce a live online bi-lingual experience that brings the arts community together once a month. To inform and to entertain, to share news and opportunities and grow the audience for the arts.

AM Cyrmu will be the hub for audiences to view the live broadcast for its duration. They have worked closely with Culture Colony over the past few years, providing us with a platform to broadcast some of our live-streamed events and content, most notably Season Salon with Mike Parker and Bardass: Gwyl Gerallt. Their multimedia platform has been a hub for Welsh arts channels, broadcasts and films since their conception in 2020 and will continue to serve to reflect diverse and inclusive creativity that Wales and it's rich culture has to offer.

The model is that of arts magazine programmes that were once broadcast on BBC Wales, ITV1 Wales and S4C. These programmes, such as The Slate, Y Sioe Gelf, Artyfax, Double Yellow, High Performance and Dim Ond Celf provided an audience with information about what was going on in the arts throughout Wales. However, by 2010 all regional arts programmes had been dropped by the broadcasters, unforgivably disenfranchising an audience from contemporary arts experiences happening in Wales. This was the initial impetus that led to the evolution of Culture Colony, and now at last Culture Colony is in a position to provide arts content, sharing the films they make, in the 'magazine' format of the programmes we've lost. Only this time the audience can also interact in real time and get involved in these inclusive online events.
