Summer Open & Auction 2017
Event type:
Saturday, July 1, 2017 - 10:00 to Sunday, July 30, 2017 - 17:00

The Summer Open that ends in an auction is now open for viewing at Oriel Q - Queens Hall Gallery. 99 pieces of work are available including a couple of sculptures by Andy Griffiths, a rare piece by the acclaimed Ifor Davies, an early painting by John Selway, a lovely oil by Osi Rhys Osmond from his Sudan series and a classic one by Tim Davies. Students and recent graduates have entered some exciting work, and well-respected artists like Christine Kinsey, Roy Ayres, Susan Sands, Glenn Ibbitson, Elizabeth Haines and Martin White have pieces on show. Newcomers to the gallery as well as regulars have submitted work in watercolour, acrylics, gouache, collage, pencil, prints and photography. Some figurative art, local scenes, animals, and expressionistic compositions hang alongside abstract work, and it is an education in techniques and a stimulating experience to view this superb collection with a chance to buy at reasonable prices either at the auction on Sunday 30 July at 2pm or through a sealed bid which can be left at the gallery. There is also an interest free scheme operating. Please tel. 01834 869 454 for further information.

This open exhibition is the main fundraiser by the Friends of the Gallery to enable them to pay the rent and contribute to the upkeep and improvements to the gallery. Although the gallery is supported by lottery funding from the Arts Council of Wales which is applied for annually, the money raised by the Friends is crucial in its continued survival. We hope you are able to support us and invite you to view the work on Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and welcome you to attend the auction on Sunday 30 July from 2pm. All welcome!
