Conceived by Eddie Ladd, directed by Deborah Light and performed by Eddie Ladd and Gwyn Emberton, Caitlin brings together three of Wales most recognised independent dance and theatre makers. This unique work for a limited audience will be presented in Cardiff, Swansea and Montgomery in Autumn 2014 as part of the Dylan Thomas 100 festival Caitlin was the wife of poet Dylan Thomas. At the start of the 70s, 20 years after he died, she started going to Alcoholics Anonymous. Set in a circle of chairs, ready for an AA meeting, Caitlin makes a determined effort to deal with her tempestuous past. The audience sit in the circle with her, and are witness to Caitlin s account of a relationship that was fuelled by love, addiction, jealousy and infidelity. This places the audience at the heart of a unique and powerful performance experience. Delivered through tender, brave and fierce performances Caitlin and Dylan drink, fight, love and leave each other. The unoccupied chairs become part of the action, Caitlin sends them flying as she re-visits her chaotic life. The creative team is joined by Sion Orgon who has created a saturating electronic soundscore that responds to the action. In a work that reminds us that even the brightest stars are vulnerable and fallible, the audience are immersed in a compelling theatre experience that is both brutal and tender. Caitlinpremiered on July 16th 2014 at Oriel Gregynog Gallery, National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. That performance is featured in CCQ magazine Issue 4
