Architecture is the simplest means of articulating time and space, of modulating reality and engendering dreams. Formulary For A New Urbanism, Ivan Chtcheglov, 1953

A rich and strange aesthetic territory can be glimpsed in the five films collected here. They are studies of urban space which map peculiar routes through its various environments, examining uncannily alien corporate interiors, claustrophobic rooms and chaotic, sprawling cityscapes. What binds them together is a certain spirit of risk and adventure which is visible across forty years of diverse artistic practise. Through its daring processes, urban space becomes something other than it seems; it is, somehow, transformed. In correspondence with Peter Bobby s current exhibition at the Architecture Centre and commencing with one of his ominous video pieces, this collective screening also presents works by contemporary artists: Mark Lewis, Catherine Yass, John Smith and I igo Manglano-Ovalle.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Al Cameron, Jonathan Mosley and Peter Bobby. For further info, please visit: www.arnolfini.org.uk
