The National Dance Company Wales presents the world premier of their new production, A Mighty Wind

This Autumn, National Dance Company Wales will be touring an exciting season of performances and events reaching venues and audiences across Wales and the UK.

Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen will be working with the Company at the end of August on a new piece, A Mighty Wind, with its world premiere taking place at Dance City in Newcastle upon Tyne on 3 October.

Having received widespread accolades for his recent re-interpretation of Nutcracker for Le Ballet du Grand Th tre de Gen ve in November 2014, Verbruggen s work is characterised by fantasy elements, edgy in style and with high energy movement. His new commission for NDCWales marks the choreographer s first time creating work for a UK Company. In A Mighty Wind, Verbruggen will explore the concept ofrock chic , drawing on the experience of a stadium rock concert, combined with exploration of wind as a force and a catalyst for change. Expect a vibrant piece capturing the intensity of nature s elements during a storm, set against the power generated by an alternative rock music concert.

A Mighty Wind will be touring the UK and will feature in Cardiff as part of the Cardiff Dance Festival (The Dance House, Wales Millennium Centre) from 16-18 November. The festival will also show Alexander Eckman's Tuplet and Johan Inger's Walking Mad.

'A Mighty Wind' will premiere at Dance City, Newcastle on 3 October and will then tour to Poole, Hereford, Newtown, Cardiff (as part of the Cardiff Dance Festival), Doncaster and Brecon.
