Cross Current - Simon Fenoulhet

Simon Fenoulhet is an artist who plays with our preconceptions of the material world by manipulating everyday objects with unexpected outcomes. The recurrent theme is one of transformation, re-presenting the familiar in ways which cause us to change the way we look at the world. In recent years, his use of light has added another dimension to the work. By making light an integral part of each piece, everyday objects take on new meanings, subverting their original function.

Vivid Seam - Simon Fenoulhet

Fenoulhet was one of three artists in residence for last year's Cardiff Contemporary, where he explored the underground and often undiscovered spaces of his home city, continuing his preoccupation with darkness and light. For this exhibition he returns to using simple objects and transforming them with light, optical tricks and often complex technology to produce magical effects.

Fenoulhet's work will be in the Art Space and in other parts of the building at Galeri, Caernarfon from 16 January to 14 February 2015

The artist will give a talk about his work at 13.30 on 18 January - this event is free and all are welcome.
